– COLLEEN HISCOCK

Challenge: The Province sought various technology inputs to support its innovation strategy known as The Way Forward, including workforce development solutions.

Launching a broad-based digital training tool to support workers in attaining the skills needed to qualify for jobs, improve productivity, and keep relevant in a fast-changing Provincial labour market.

Solution: Bluedrop’s SkillsPass™ training platform offered the required capabilities and was selected and launched as SkillsPass NL in 2018. The multi-departmental content applicability, and the ease of access and consumption by a public training audience were key variables leading to the launch.

Outcomes: SkillsPass NL has enabled the ongoing advancement of upskilling, reskilling, and OHS training for the benefit of all members of the Provincial workforce. There are over 35 courses currently available on the platform, being utilized by hundreds of employers, and over 20,000 registered users to-date (representing approximately 1 in 10 Provincial workers).

“With SkillsPass, we are able to more efficiently and effectively enable the safety and certifications for all Provincial workers, while enhancing security, reducing certification wait times, and reducing operational costs.”

– RON KELUSKY
Chief Prevention Officer /Assistant Deputy Minister
Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development

Implementing a digital self-service solution that would allow all 7+ Million Ontario workers to easily submit, access and maintain training records for health and safety that is expandable to other training and provides indicators for better prevention planning and outcomes.

Solution: The SaaS SkillsPass platform’s scalability, accessibility, and digitization supported the goal of eliminating legacy manual processes and provides self-service access to training records for all workforce stakeholders in the Province.

Outcomes: To-date, the system maintains 2+ Million training records and supports over 250 external training provider partners. . Technologically, the system is deployed as a Software as a Service (SaaS) using a Cloud environment while adhering to all I&IT Standards such as Architecture Security and Accessibility, having launched from paper to production in just 7 months.

“Bluedrop works diligently as our partner and is truly interested in our success. There is no way we would have had the success we’ve had with this program without them by our side”

KELLIE KREISER
Executive Director, DreamBuilder Program, Thunderbird School of Global Management at ASU

Challenge: Dreambuilder was the vision of Freeport-McMoran, a premier natural resource company that sought to increase support for women entrepreneurs around the world.

Delivering complex entrepreneurship and business concepts in an easy-to-consume training format that would appeal to a broad audience- one that included those with lower levels of education, business knowledge, and computer literacy.

Solution: As a key technology partner, Bluedrop transformed Thunderbird’s robust training content into an innovative, online entrepreneurship program with advanced interactivity- including animation, video snippets, testimonials, and templates to help increase both knowledge and retention.

Outcomes: To-date, over 100,000 individuals from over 108 countries have taken the Dreambuilder training, which has also been recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative.

In what has proven to be a rapidly changing working environment, it is absolutely imperative that our Provincial workforce continues to learn and grow their skills…and we’re excited to see our Industry Sector Councils continue to invest in their members in providing such a robust training experience.”

– TRENT SOHOLT
Chair of the Board, AISC

Challenge: Nova Scotia has 13 Industry Sector Councils, representing 32,000 small and medium sized businesses.

With a wide variety of training on-offer, having a one-stop place to browse, book and register for training to help advance the vision and objectives of each council was required.

Solution: Bluedrop’s experience and the inherent flexibility of its training platform was a perfect fit, and it has since partnered with the Sector Councils to develop and launch customized SkillsPass training ‘Marketplaces’- thereby enabling each of the 13 Sector Councils to offer individualized online, in-person and recorded training options for its members and industry vertical .

Outcomes: The first five Sector Council training marketplace virtual storefronts launched in 2020, with specific and relevant training options tailored for each Sector.

REIMAGINE

A seamless online training ecosystem connection for all stakeholders or partners…

  • Including governments, regulators, industry associations, unions, career centers, training providers, employers and more.
  • These cross-organizational and complex training situations would overwhelm an LMS. SkillsPass fixes that, with a robust suite of NexGen features and functionality including:
    • ONLINE TRAINING HUB– our embedded MarketPlusTM online training marketplace- allowing our clients to go beyond their own training offerings and consolidate external training sources, whether classroom, online, or virtual.
    • UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE– Industry open architecture solution design that enables third party solution integration and the bringing together of key partners/systems and eliminating the siloed, restrictive nature of the traditional LMS.
    • TRAINING PARTNER INTEGRATION– Training partner enablement through unique storefronts to accept bookings, track attendance, and issue certificates working in concert with each client’s marketplace. APIs are also available for Training Partners with their own software.
    • DIGITAL WORKER PASSPORT– The industry-first SkillsPass Worker Passport, allowing end-users to access and share their validated credentials securely with employers and regulators (via QR code).
    • MULTI-LEVEL REPORTING– Robust reporting and insights at an employer and industry (client) level. Clients can provide a business account for each employer partner to allow them to track valid certificates, assign training, and see the final results and expiry notifications. The platform also generates valuable client insights about training completion at certificate, demographic, partner, industry, and regional levels.
