AccelerateIEN is an innovative four-step training program that helps seamlessly transition Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) from theoretical knowledge to practical patient care in Canada.
About the Program
The AccelerateIEN program seamlessly integrates custom eLearning, simulation-based training, workplace support, and mentorship to build confidence, enhance critical thinking and communication skills, and prepare IENs to navigate local work environments effectively—both before and during onboarding. Key program components include:
1. Canadian Nursing Essentials
Before starting hands-on training, IENs complete a week of targeted eLearning and virtual classes, gaining insights into Canadian nursing, healthcare, and culture.
2. Simulation Boot Camp
A two-week intensive prep that strengthens skills in a Canadian context through virtual scenarios and immersive VR clinical simulations, all in a risk-free environment.
3. Prior Learning Assessment
Following the Boot Camp, a nurse educator performs a Prior Learning Assessment with each IEN and creates a personalized learning plan to guide their on-the-job training.
4. Ongoing Expert Support
IENs and their preceptors receive up to eight weeks of work integrated learning, coaching, and personalized check-ins for targeted skill development and real-time support.

AccelerateIEN is a structured four-step work-ready program that helps IENs apply their existing knowledge and skills in the Canadian healthcare system. It supports their transition to Canadian patient care and enables them to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Core components of the program include: (1) a review of Canadian Nursing Essentials, (2) an immersive skills training bootcamp, (3) tailored PLAN (Prior Learning Assessment Plan) development, and (4) ongoing expert support with Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL).

AccelerateIEN is delivered by Bluedrop ISM’s in-house Nurse Educators, who collectively bring over 50 years of nursing experience, including approximately 15 years of direct work with internationally educated nurses.

The AccelerateIEN training program includes four core stages including: (1) a review of Canadian Nursing Essentials, (2) an immersive skills training bootcamp, (3) tailored PLAN (Prior Learning Assessment Plan) development, and (4) ongoing expert support and Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL).

Pricing is based on cohort group sizes with volume discounts available for large groups.

We work with Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) at various stages of their transition to Canadian practice. This training is designed for IENs who may or may not yet be licensed in Canada and who may have had some training but have not undergone a comprehensive orientation or onboarding in a Canadian healthcare setting.

The program currently is delivered to cohorts of 6 or 12.

The initial AccelerateIEN cohorts are currently active in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with another group launch in April 2025. Contact us if you’re interested in AccelerateIEN for a cohort in your jurisdiction. 

The program launched in January 2025, and new cohorts are now being added on a monthly basis.
